University Housing Services Staff Wins Multiple Top Honors

The Professional Staff from University Housing Services attended the 57th Annual WACUHO Annual Conference and Exposition in San Jose and brought home Best Program and 1st Place in the Case Study Competition. The conference, put on by the Western Association of College University Housing Officers (WACUHO), had over 230 professionals in attendance from different universities across California.

Annalicia Hernandez and Tashiana Bryant competed in the annual new professionals case study competition and won first place. Annalicia and Tashiana along with Chris Young, a colleague from CSU Chico, competed against 18 other teams. The case study included multiple scenarios including a sexual assault, and a separate scenario of a student requiring a comfort animal. As a team, Annalicia, Tashiana, and Chris worked to come up with solutions to the issues as if they were managers of a housing unit.

Chelsea Navarro and David Lutman won the John Yarborough “Best of the West” Award for best educational session. There were 38 different sessions on topics ranging from Bullying in Higher Education to Spirituality. Chelsea and David’s session entitled “Re-invigorating Sustainability: Sharing New Ways to Go Green” Winning the award pays for Chelsea and David to go on and present their session at the International ACUHO-i conference this year in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
