Dr. Reyes Luna is currently the Interim Executive Director for University Housing Services at Cal Poly Pomona University. Reyes’ accomplishments in Student Affairs and Academic Affairs span over twenty-one years at five different campuses (California Lutheran University, UC Davis, Ohio University, Sonoma State and Cal Poly Pomona). Reyes is currently finished his Ed.D in Educational Leadership from Cal Poly Pomona University, he attended graduate school at Ohio University (M.Ed. College Student Personnel) and undergraduate school at UC Davis (B.A. Sociology). Reyes has been working at Cal Poly Pomona University for thirteen years and the last five years as the Director of Residence Life.
Araceli is currently the Area Coordinator. She supervises Residence Life Coordinators and oversees after-hour crisis management. She completed her undergraduate degree at UC Santa Barbara where she majored in Global Studies and Spanish. She then fell in love with the idea of always being on a college campus and received her Masters in Counseling-Student Affairs from Cal State Bakersfield. She is a SoCal native and a big foodie who loves to find new places to eat!! She loves working with students and new professionals. She loves empowering them to become leaders of their own path!
The puppy life here leaves our dogs spoiled from all the love they receive due to our residents. Before I start talking about my loveable Shiba, I’m going to introduce a few of the other dogs we have on campus.
First up is the dog who has been at Cal Poly the longest—Dr. Watson, also known as Doc Wat or simply Watson. Approximately, four years old, Dr. Watson lives with his mother, Jazmin Rew-Pinchem who is the Residence Life Coordinator Luntanas (Montanas and Luna). He is the mascot for our service-learning and social justice themed buildings, and his side gig is showing his old soul and laying besides his mother while she crochets. He is a chill dog, very loyal, and loves 1-on-1 attention.
Living also in the Suites, Jack, an eight month old puppy resides in buildings, Bonita and Sol. Besides working towards becoming a trending meme on the interwebs, Jack is practicing to be a doggy David Beckham. Jack loves all beings—dogs and humans alike. You can always depend on this hyper baby boy to welcome you with kisses.
Next up, is Leo, aka “mop” dog. Leo is around two years old. His momma, Jocelyn, and I found him at an animal shelter an hour away from Pomona. Mommy Jocelyn knew she had found her baby boy after seeing him on the shelter’s YouTube. We do not know what …

Keiry was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, but grew up in southern California. She is happily engaged to Gary Ewing and they plan to get married in spring 2015. Keiry loves interior design, road trips, going on runs, sp ending time with family and friends, and going to the movies. She has 4 Chihuahua dogs which she loves to death – Belle, Doppey, Chunky and Arley! Keiry values family, honesty and commitment. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and her master’s in Public Administration from Cal Poly Pomona. Keiry also earned her associates in Interior Design from Mt. San Antonio College. Keiry is the Programming Coordinator here in UHS.
Michael J. Amesquita
Michael completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Nevada Las Vegas in Secondary Education Social Sciences. His graduate degree is in Higher Education Administration Student Affairs from The George Washington University where he was also the Assistant Director of Summer & Conference Housing before joining CPP in the fall of 2014. In his free time, Michael loves to play in sports leagues such as volleyball, kickball, and softball. He also is an active member of the local masonic lodge and on the leadership team for Affirmation, a national non-profit. Michael is the RLC for Casa de Cedritos.
